Participants at the beach clean-up drive organised by the APPCB, Srikakulam
Visakhapatnam: Marking the International Coastal Clean-Up Day, the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), Srikakulam, spearheaded a large-scale beach clean-up drive at Baruva Beach, bringing together students, NGOs, industry representatives, local officials and members of the public in a united effort to combat marine pollution and protect the coastline. The participants worked together to remove plastic waste, discarded materials and other debris from the shoreline, helping restore the natural beauty of the beach.
Assistant Collector Hariom Pandya, along with the MPDO, Panchayat Executive Officer and panchayat president Baruva, actively participated in the programme. Speaking on the occasion, the officials stressed the need to protect fragile coastal ecosystems and highlighted the harmful impact of single-use plastics on marine life. They urged the public and visitors to adopt responsible waste-disposal and sustainable practices and reduce their dependence on single-use plastics.
The clean-up drive also turned into an extensive marine conservation awareness campaign. School students and NGO representatives carried placards and raised slogans, urging beachgoers and local communities to keep the coastline clean and protect marine habitats.
