Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Pradesh Counter Intelligence Cell, in coordination with Central Intelligence agencies, arrested Kadari Srinivas, an accused in a naval espionage case, after his return from Saudi Arabia.
Visakhapatnam City Police intercepted him at Delhi Airport and brought him to the Malkapuram Police Station in the city.
Srinivas, 31, a resident of New Colony, Scindia, Gandhigram Post, Visakhapatnam, is accused A-3 in the case registered at Malkapuram Police Station, under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Official Secrets Act, 1923.
Investigators issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him after learning he was outside the country.
The investigation revealed that Srinivas and accused A-1, Bongu Ravi, a resident of Sriharipuram in Visakhapatnam, were employed by TD Engineering Company at the Naval Dockyard.
Police said Ravi became acquainted with an unidentified woman using the name ‘Angel Payal’ on Facebook in 2023. She allegedly claimed to work for a Dubai-based shipping company dealing with logistics for ships and crew worldwide.
According to investigators, the woman allegedly induced Ravi to share information about ships and submarines at the Naval Dockyard in exchange for money. Ravi and Srinivas allegedly colluded to share details about the numbers of ships and submarines stationed at the highly restricted defence facility. Investigators further alleged that Ravi received substantial amounts of money from the woman through his bank account and subsequently transferred a share to Srinivas.
A charge sheet was filed against all three accused before the jurisdictional court under the relevant provisions of the BNS and the Official Secrets Act. Following coordinated efforts by the AP Counter Intelligence Cell and Central Intelligence agencies to secure Srinivas’s return from Saudi Arabia, he was intercepted at Delhi Airport on October 11, 2026.
He was produced before the jurisdictional court on October 12, and remanded to judicial custody. He is currently lodged in the Central Prison in Visakhapatnam.
