APEPDCL introduces reforms for faster, transparent power connections
In Short
A total of 5,433 applications for various categories of electricity connections were registered

APEPDCL CMD Prudhvi Tej Immadi
Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) is implementing a series of reforms to ensure faster, more transparent and consumer-friendly services for applicants seeking electricity connections, emphasised the DISCOM’s CMD Prudhvi Tej Immadi. As part of these initiatives, a Centralised Processing Centre (CPC) was established at the APEPDCL corporate office in Visakhapatnam to ensure uniformity, transparency and efficiency in the scrutiny of electricity connection applications. Operational from August 8, the centre is responsible for processing applications relating to apartments, group housing projects, commercial complexes, conversion of Low Tension (LT) connections to High Tension (HT), and new HT connections. In another consumer-friendly initiative, farmers can register for agricultural and aquaculture electricity connections by calling the toll-free number 1912, eliminating the need to visit Mee-Seva Kendras or Swarna Gram/Ward secretariats to register their applications.
Since July 6, 2024, APEPDCL has provided 33,899 agricultural electricity connections across 11 circles under its jurisdiction, reflecting the scale of its efforts to facilitate power access for the agricultural sector.
Providing details of the application status as of October 12, the CMD informed that a total of 5,433 applications for various categories of electricity connections were registered.
Of these, 5,323 applications were approved, while 110 were rejected due to incomplete documentation.
Also, the company is providing an opportunity for applicants whose applications were rejected to rectify the discrepancies and submit fresh applications with necessary documents within 15 days. According to the officials, the initiatives aim to simplify application procedures, reduce the need for physical visits to government service centres and strengthen transparency in the delivery of electricity services to consumers.
