Visakhapatnam: The Department of Applied Mathematics, College of Science and Technology, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, inaugurated a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘Emerging Applications of Linear Algebra and Differential Equations’.
Aimed at enhancing the knowledge and research capabilities of faculty members, research scholars and postgraduate students in contemporary developments and interdisciplinary applications of linear algebra and differential equations, the inaugural session commenced in the presence of academicians and dignitaries. GP Raja Sekhar, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, MVR Raju, Principal of the College of Science and Technology, Andhra University, and YVS Sanyasi Raju, Professor in the Department of Mathematics at IIT Madras, attended the inaugural session.
Speaking on the occasion, the organisers emphasised that the FDP is designed to give participants new exposure to recent advances, emerging applications, computational techniques and research opportunities in linear algebra and differential equations. The programme will feature expert lectures by eminent academicians from premier institutions, interactive sessions and discussions on contemporary research trends. M Vijaya Santhi, head of the Department of Applied Mathematics, is coordinating the programme serving as convener. Faculty members, research scholars and participants from various institutions are attending the FDP, which aims to foster academic collaboration and strengthen research activities in applied mathematics and its emerging applications.
The five-day faculty development programme will continue until September 23rd and features lectures, technical sessions and discussions by experts from leading academic and research institutions across the country.
