With private cab fares from Visakhapatnam to the new airport ranging between Rs.5,000 and Rs.3,000, the government has allocated 20 electric buses initially to provide an affordable and convenient alternative for passengers to reach the new airport hassle-free.
After flagging off the new electric bus services in the presence of Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat, Visakhapatnam District Collector Abhishikth Kishore, City Commissioner of Police Shankhabrata Bagchi, APSRTC Regional Manager B. Appala Naidu, among others, Revenue, Stamps and Registration Minister Angani Satya Prasad informed that the fare from the Dwaraka Complex, Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram Airport, Vizianagaram has been fixed at Rs.300, while passengers travelling from Gajuwaka will have to pay Rs.400. He appealed to passengers to use the affordable public transport facility to reach the new airport.
Of the 20 electric buses, 10 will operate from Gajuwaka to Bhogapuram Airport via NAD junction and the Maddilapalem Highway, while the rest will operate through Sandhya Theatre, Railway Station, RTC Bus Complex and IT Park areas before reaching the new airport.
Adding details, APSRTC Regional Manager B. Appala Naidu mentioned that the services would operate every hour between Gajuwaka and Bhogapuram Airport and from there to Visakhapatnam providing passengers with a reliable and economical transport option.
