Visakhapatnam: The president and secretaries of Madhurawada Nagarampalem Grama Yuvajana Sangam in GVMC’s 5th ward appealed to the District Collector, Police Commissioner and GVMC Commissioner to protect a community building from alleged encroachment.
Sangam president Illipilli Anil Kumar and secretary Nagothi Jyotish submitted a complaint to the authorities on Monday, alleging that some persons were attempting to occupy the community building located at Nagarampalem in survey no 64 by submitting fake documents. According to the complainants, the community hall was originally constructed with government funds nearly 50 years ago.
After the old structure became desolate, a permanent building was later constructed with government funds. The villagers said the building has been serving as a common facility for the residents of Nagarampalem, where various village activities and community programmes are organised.
They mentioned that the electricity charges for the building are being paid by the villagers. For several years, the premises have also been used for organising programmes for Independence Day, Republic Day and Vinayaka Chavithi celebrations, they mentioned.
Anil Kumar and Jyotish alleged that a few persons were trying to occupy the community building, which they said was built on government land classified as village Kantham, by producing allegedly false documents.
They urged the authorities to conduct an inquiry and take immediate action to protect the government property and prevent its alleged encroachment.
TDP 5th ward president N Satyanarayana, villagers and representatives of the Grama Yuvajana Sangam were present present.
