Visakhapatnam: Despite residing in a property worth lakhs of rupees, they could not secure a loan for even a nominal amount.
Putting an end to the decades of struggle faced by those residing in houses without any ownership documents, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu handed over ownership rights to 28,445 beneficiaries in Visakhapatnam on Saturday.
He stated that the happiness he witnessed among the beneficiaries is something he would cherish for the rest of his life. Describing the beneficiaries as ‘lakhshadipathis’, the CM mentioned that they now have full rights over their properties.
When the Chief Minister walked along the ramp arranged at Andhra University College of Engineering grounds, greeting the beneficiaries, mobile cameras were taken out to capture the special moment.
The beneficiaries’ smiles hardly faded even after receiving pattas as they considered it a great celebration in |their lives.
The government regularised 399 acres of land across 11 mandals in Visakhapatnam, covering 19,33,853 square yards. The pattas confer rights over land with a registration value of approximately Rs 8,874 crore.
Expressing gratitude to the CM, Kondamma from east constituency, a beneficiary, shared how her family struggled living in rented houses, without power supply for a very long time and how their lives are going to change overnight with the receipt of the house patta from the CM.
After receiving the conveyance deed, Vummidi Mahalakshmi from Seethammadara heaved a sigh of relief, mentioning that her decades of dream had finally been fulfilled by the Chief Minister. A visibly excited Razia Begum, another beneficiary, from Gajuwaka, said, “We received house patta from the then TDP government. Now, we are receiving the ownership rights for the same property under the NDA’s rule. Years of wait have finally ended for us.”
Some of the beneficiaries received ownership documents from the Chief Minister in the presence of respective constituency MLAs, while the rest collected from the counters arranged for the purpose.
