As per the call of the union’s state committee, journalists participated in this movement organized by the district committee at the Mahatma Gandhi statue in Hanumakonda Public Garden on Friday and wrote postcards to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy in large numbers.
The programme was organised as part of the state-wide postcard movement launched in Hyderabad by the union’s state president Allam Narayana and general secretary Askani Maruthisagar. 150 postcards were sent to the Chief Minister under the auspices of the district committee, requesting that health cards be granted to journalists so that they can receive cashless medical services.
Speaking on the occasion, Union’s district president Maskapuri Sudhakar and Secretary Arsham Rajkumar said that journalists played a key role in the movement for the achievement of Telangana state, but their problems have not been resolved in their own state.
They criticized the government for not caring about the health of journalists. They demanded that the government take appropriate steps to grant cashless health cards, housing plots and accreditations to journalists.
They said that the letter movement that started in the Hanumakonda district center will be continued in the mandal centers of the district as well. They urged the government to immediately address the fair demands of journalists.
