AI, Skill Development Gaining Importance in Agriculture

HANUMAKONDA: The School of Agriculture, SR University, organised an orientation programme for the newly admitted B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture and M.Sc. Agriculture 2026 batch. The programme brought together university leadership, faculty members, students and parents, marking the beginning of the academic journey of the new batch.

Prof. G. Bhupal Raj, Dean, School of Agriculture, welcomed the students and parents and highlighted the importance of agriculture in the present scenario. He explained the academic, research, field training and student development activities being offered by the School of Agriculture. He also highlighted SR University’s ICAR accreditation, making it the first private university in the two Telugu States to receive the recognition, and explained the career and placement opportunities available to agriculture graduates.

Prof. Deepak Garg, Vice Chancellor, SR University, emphasised the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and skill development in the agriculture sector. He encouraged students to acquire practical and technological skills along with academic knowledge.

Dr. R. Archana Reddy, Dean–Operations & Growth, spoke about the continuous growth and development of SR University and encouraged the newly admitted students to make effective use of the opportunities available on the campus.

G.V. Subbareddy, Vice-President, Coromandel International Limited, who attended as the chief guest, spoke about the increasing importance of agriculture, climate change and the diverse career opportunities available to agriculture graduates across the country. He encouraged students to understand the changing needs of the agriculture sector and prepare themselves accordingly.

Sri A. Varada Reddy, Chancellor, SR University, emphasised the important role of parents in shaping the future of their children. He appreciated the students for choosing agriculture as their field of study and encouraged them to pursue their education with dedication and confidence.

Senior B.Sc. Agriculture II and III Year students also shared their academic experiences with the newly admitted students and offered insights into campus life and learning opportunities.

The orientation programme served as an encouraging start to the academic journey of the 2026 batch at the School of Agriculture, SR University.
