Congress conducts ‘Save Democracy Yatra’ in Warangal
WARANGAL: The Congress party conducted a ‘Save Democracy Yatra’ in Warangal on Tuesday, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from office.
The yatra was organised by the District Congress Committee following the call given by the AICC and TPCC. A large number of Congress leaders and workers participated in the programme.
The yatra began at Pochamma Maidan Junction and proceeded to the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at Kashibugga. The participants burnt an effigy in protest against the functioning of the Election Commission.
They said the Congress would continue its fight to protect democracy and the right to vote.
Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy, Wardhannapet MLA KR Nagaraju, Palakurthi MLA Yashaswini Reddy, Warangal District Congress president MD Ayub, TPCC vice-president Jhansi Reddy and KUDA chairman Gundu Sudharani took part in the yatra.
