WARANGAL: Internal factional tensions within the Congress party surfaced publicly during the Telangana Praja Palana Day celebrations in Warangal, with leaders exchanging heated words on the dais in the presence of District Collector Dr Satya Sarada.

Verbal spat on official dais

Congress Youth President Paramesh and 13th Division President Babu confronted Library Corporation Chairman Meesala Prakash, expressing strong anger over his conduct. They alleged that Prakash stood on the venue dais and clapped in support of Sushmitha Patil, who had made inappropriate remarks against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at the Geesugonda mandal centre.

The leaders criticised Prakash, saying it was shameful for such a person to occupy a seat at the Praja Palana programme. The argument quickly escalated between supporters of the Konda and Sarayya factions, turning into a loud confrontation.

Collector intervenes

As the situation turned tense, Collector Satya Sarada stepped in to pacify both groups, following which the dispute subsided. The public display of intra-party differences at a government function has become a talking point locally, with many noting that ruling party factionalism is now spilling over onto open stages.

The incident underscores growing friction within the district Congress unit ahead of key local political activities.
