Hanumakonda: The Communist Party of India (CPI) will intensify its struggles for complete political change in the country, CPI K Narayana said here on Friday. He alleged that the Narendra Modi government was posing a serious threat to the Constitution and democracy by adopting an anti-Constitutional approach and pursuing anti-people policies. Speaking at a media conference held at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday, Dr Narayana, said the CPI would further intensify its nationwide campaign against the Central government.
Narayana criticised the Modi government for its failure on several fronts, including foreign policy, and alleged that communalism had increased under its rule, adversely affecting communal harmony. He said the rising prices of essential commodities have further burdened the common people.
The CPI had been continuously organising struggles against the anti-people policies of the Central government, he said. As part of the campaign, extensive nationwide outreach and protest programmes were conducted in August, followed by a massive rally and public meeting at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on September 1.
He described the programme as a major milestone for the CPI and said such a large-scale rally had been organised in the national capital after the period of CPI stalwart Chandra Rajeswara Rao.
Narayana announced that the CPI would organise a nationwide “Jail Bharo” agitation on December 1, 2 and 3, with lakhs of party leaders and activists expected to participate. He said the agitation would further intensify the nationwide movement against the policies of the Modi government. The CPI would also observe October Socialist Revolution Day on November 7 on a large scale across the country. On October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the party would organise programmes with a call to protect communal harmony and strengthen national unity.
