Jangaon: Jangaon Municipal Chairperson Kadakanchi Balamani Srinivas has said the municipality is committed to developing Jangaon as an ideal town, keeping its growing population and future needs in mind. Speaking to The Hans India, she said priority was being given to roads, drainage, drinking water and sanitation.

Development works worth around Rs 20 crore are being taken up in various wards using UST funds, with CC roads receiving special attention. A total of Rs 7 crore box drain is also under construction to provide a permanent solution to the town’s recurring urban flooding problem.

She said the municipality was strengthening sanitation, regulating encroachments, improving street-light maintenance and promoting greenery. Steps were also being taken to control stray dogs and monkeys and improve public infrastructure.

The chairperson said special efforts were underway to recover pending taxes and municipal shop rents to boost revenue. Transparent governance and prompt grievance redressal would remain key priorities during her tenure.
