Kollapur(Nagarkurnool): The Sangameswara temple near Somashila in Kollapur mandal of Nagarkurnool district is gradually emerging from the waters of the Krishna as the Srisailam backwaters recede. Renowned as the confluence of seven rivers, the temple is an important pilgrimage centre in the region.

On Saturday, temple priest Telakapalli Raghurama Sarma visited the temple and performed special pujas to Nandeeswara, which has emerged from submersion. He said the idols inside the temple were expected to emerge completely from the water by Dasara. Special pujas would be performed on the occasion, allowing devotees to have darshan of the deities.

The neemwood Shiva Lingam is one of the temple’s unique features and becomes visible once the water recedes completely. The priest said the temple’s emergence from the water after nearly 25 years, following a significant decline in Krishna River water levels, was noteworthy. Devotees have already started visiting the site to offer prayers as the historic shrine gradually reappears.
