Revanth govt intolerant to criticism of its failures: Vinay Bhaskar

Hanamkonda: The Revanth government is resorting to illegal detentions and arrests because it cannot tolerate that various sections of society questioning the Congress government’s failures, said Senior BRS leader D Vinay Bhaskar here on Tuesday.

He asserted that BRS leaders and activists would not be intimidated by the government’s attempts to suppress voices that question issues affecting the public. He warned that they would further intensify the struggle on behalf of the people until the Congress government implements the ‘Six Guarantees’ and the 420 promises it had made.

BRS cadres led by Vinay Bhaskar staged a road blockade on the main thoroughfare near the Ambedkar statue in Hanamkonda on Tuesday. Party members raised slogans against the government during the event. Subsequently, they burned an effigy of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and submitted a memorandum to the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinay Bhaskar expressed distress over the manner in which the police treated former Home Minister and BRS MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy and former Minister Sunitha Laxma Reddy within the Assembly premises. He said such conduct towards women public representatives runs counter to democratic values.

He criticised the Congress party for failing to fulfill its promises—specifically the “Six Guarantees” and the 420 other pledges—even after 1,000 days in power, despite having announced that they would be implemented within the first 100 days. He alleged that the government, which ought to be driving the state’s development, is instead sidelining public issues and prioritising acts of political vendetta. He lashed out at the government for attempting to suppress movements through illegal detentions and arrests whenever the BRS stands up for the people and questions the administration’s failures.

Vinay Bhaskar noted that the government has failed to fully implement promises regarding fee reimbursement for students, jobs for the youth, employment opportunities for workers, and pensions for the elderly and differently-abled. He observed that various sections of society—from students to the elderly—are dissatisfied with the government’s conduct. He remarked that it is inappropriate for the Congress government to adopt oppressive tactics in a state that the people had secured through immense struggle.
