Sports Build Discipline, Confidence: SP Shabarish

WARANGAL: Sports help students develop discipline, punctuality, perseverance, self-confidence and leadership qualities, said Mahabubabad District Superintendent of Police Dr Shabarish, IPS. He said sports also play a key role in improving the physical and mental health of students.

The SP attended the 70th School Games Federation Guduru zonal-level sports competitions and selection trials held at the ZPHS (Boys) school in Guduru as the chief guest. He interacted with student athletes from various schools who were taking part in the competitions.

Dr Shabarish advised students to practise regularly in the sport of their choice. He said they should accept victories and defeats equally and treat failure as a challenge rather than becoming disappointed. Sportsmanship, discipline and continuous practice were the foundations of success, he said.

Stay away from addictions

The SP urged students to stay away from bad habits, drugs and other forms of addiction. He warned that addictions could damage the future of youth. He advised them to adopt a healthy lifestyle and focus on education, sports and creative activities.

He also asked students to follow the advice of their parents and teachers and work hard to achieve their goals.

Awareness of cyber fraud

Posters on cyber fraud and drug abuse were displayed during the programme to create awareness among students. Dr Shabarish advised them to remain alert against cybercrimes and not respond to suspicious links, messages or online offers.

“Stay away from drugs and build a healthy future,” was the message conveyed to the students.

The SP urged students to excel in both education and sports and strive to perform at the State and national levels. He called upon them to bring recognition to their parents, teachers, school and Mahabubabad district.
