WARANGAL: A 20-year-old married woman died by suicide in Mahabubabad after consuming rat poison in a fit of anger when her husband did not answer her video call, police said on Monday.

The deceased, Akhila (20), was from Bollikonda village in Nekkonda mandal of Warangal district. She was married about two years ago to Banoth Hussain, a housing finance manager from Mahabubabad, and the couple had a young daughter.

According to family members, Akhila had recently gone to her parents’ home. On September 2, while her child was crying, she tried to video call her husband so that he could talk to the baby. When Hussain did not pick up the call, she became deeply upset, the family said.

Later, Akhila returned to her in-laws’ house in Mahabubabad town and consumed rat poison paste. Family members noticed and immediately rushed her to a hospital for treatment. Her condition deteriorated, and she died in the early hours of Monday while undergoing treatment, police said.

The incident has left the family in deep grief. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation, saying they are collecting complete details of the incident.
