Haridwar: Preparations are in the final stages for the 52nd All India Orientalist Conference, scheduled to be held at Patanjali University in Haridwar from October 31, 2026. Scholars from India and abroad will discuss Indian philosophy, Sanskrit, culture, history and the country’s traditional knowledge systems.
Yoga guru Swami Ramdev and Patanjali University Vice Chancellor Acharya Balkrishna reviewed the preparations at a meeting on Tuesday, stressing coordination, discipline and quality arrangements for the event.
Ramdev said the conference was not merely an academic gathering but an important platform for preserving and promoting Sanatan Dharma, Indian culture and traditional knowledge. He highlighted the contemporary relevance of Indian philosophy, particularly its emphasis on equality, duty, morality and human welfare.
A key highlight will be the Sanatan Shastra Vimarsh, bringing together university vice-chancellors and educationists to discuss the future of education, Sanskrit preservation and the integration of Indian knowledge traditions into modern education.
The conference will also feature a major book fair, an exhibition showcasing Indian culture, folk food and traditions, scholarly debates, poetry sessions, classical music, dance and folk performances. Academic sessions will cover archaeology, linguistics, manuscript studies, history and Oriental studies. Discussions will also explore the relationship between yoga, Ayurveda, traditional medical systems and modern research. Ramdev urged participating departments and teams to work together to ensure the successful organisation of the conference and strengthen awareness of India’s intellectual and cultural heritage among younger generations.
