Previous LDF govt only one in 50 yrs which did not form pay commission: Keralam CM
In Short
Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan alleges the previous LDF government delayed pay commission formation and left around Rs 36,000 crore in DA and DR arrears.

Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan
Thiruvananthapuram: Keralam Chief Minister V D Satheesan on Monday said that the previous LDF administration was the only government in the last 50 years that failed to constitute a pay commission to carry out a pay revision.
The CM, responding to queries in the House by former state Finance Minister K N Balagopal and other Left MLAs, said that since 1977 every government had constituted a pay commission, called for a report, and implemented the pay revision based on it.
"However, the previous LDF government from 2021-2026 did not do so. They delayed the pay commission constitution by two years and issued an order for the 12th commission only in February, in the run-up to the assembly polls," he contended.
"So, we did not delay the pay commission," he added.
The Left MLAs queries were regarding the status of the pay revision process which the previous government had initiated and whether it will be implemented in the current financial year.
Satheesan also alleged that the outgoing government transferred a burden of around Rs 36,000 crore towards Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) on to the new administration.
"We are clearing those arrears now despite the financial problems the government is facing," he claimed.
