Nellore: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is aiming at achieving the twin objectives of addressing needs of flood-affected people and strengthening the TDP in the district.

  • Party chief and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reportedly discussed the issue with senior leaders who are not happy with the re-entry of former Finance Minister n Assures that their services will be recognised by the party

As part of measures to further boosting the strength of TDP, the entry of former Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy into the party has almost been finalised. Naidu seems to have given a green signal for the next step of inviting him officially into the party, according to sources. It may be recalled that The Hans India has published a report in this connection in these columns on November 14.

Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, who had served as Minister earlier in the TDP government, has been criticising the Congress party at various meetings and now his re-entry into TDP is almost finalised and the party chief Chandrababu Naidu had successfully convinced other senior party leaders.

In fact, earlier there has been huge resistance from local Telugu Desam leaders on the re-entry of Anam brothers since they would dominate others, and the party leaders would lose their own future though they had been working for the party for several years.

The TDP is currently having three Assembly seats in Nellore while the YSRCP is having 7 Assembly seats and the Nellore MP seat. There has already been some dissatisfaction among some party leaders on induction of educationist P Narayana directly into the Cabinet. He also has been considered as one of the core leaders in the party by virtue of his close affinity with the party chief.

However, senior leaders have not expressed their direct displeasure on the leadership’s move to induct Ramanarayana Reddy into the party. They are confident that their services would also be recognised in due course.

Rumours are doing rounds that the re-entry chances of Ramanarayana Reddy have improved as the party chief had reportedly discussed the issue with important leaders in the district during his current visit and convinced them that he would take care of their prospects in the party and assured that he would not ignore senior leaders of the party in the district.

“We are not opposing position and respect to Minister Narayana but the party should think of future of senior workers in the party who have been struggling for strengthening the party. Now, entry of Ramanarayana is not advisable since the political equations would change but inevitably we respect the decision of the Chief Minister,” said a senior leader.

Yet, Anam Vivekananda Reddy, brother of Ramanarayana, has to finalise his strategy, according to party sources. He is reportedly willing to continue in Congress party. But, his stance on party changing would come to light only after Ramanarayana Reddy’s entry is finalised.
