Warns government not to split Rayalaseema
Hyderabad: The 52-hour-long fast staged by Byreddy Rajasekhar Reddy, convenor of Rayalaseema Parirakshana Samiti (RPS), ended here at Dharna Chowk here on Saturday evening urging the government not to split Rayalaseema.
Speaking at the venue, Byreddy said the main aim of the hunger strike was to create an awareness among the people of Rayalaseema and also those who are at the helm of affairs in the State about the need for keeping the State united or divide it into three parts.
He said the people of Rayalaseema have a distinct culture and a very long history. How can the Congress government think of splitting the region and attach it to Telagana and Andhra regions without even seeking the consent of the stake holders. He said the Seema people have their own self respect and they cannot be divided just because it may suit the political aspirations of some of the parties including the Congress, he said.
