City police issue guidelines to banks

Hyderabad: Banks under the limits of Cyberabad commissionerate have been asked to step up security at their ATM centres in the wake of increasing number of attacks and criminal offences targeting customers drawing money from the outlets.

Cyberabad commissioner C V Anand on Tuesday issued the guidelines to be implemented from January 15 by the banks in order to maintain public order and safety of citizens. If any bank or any of its officials were found violating the below orders and not taking precautionary measures will be liable for prosecution under relevant provisions of law, stated in the press release.

ATMs should be in safe and public places visible to the general public. Those centres located at inaccessible, risky places should be voluntarily closed down by the bank.

ATMs should be guarded by the security guards round the clock and they should be provided with a cell phone containing the telephone numbers of the police stations of the jurisdiction.

All the ATMs should be established with quality CCTV cameras inside and outside with video image and night vision and maintain it properly without fail. The Bank should install control rooms to watch their ATM CCTVs from a centralised place in the coming few months.

The footages of CCTV Cameras should be verified and examined by the bank officials time to time and record them properly. Recording facility of at least three months should be available.

The entry door of the ATMs should be fitted with Magnetic lock for the safety of ATM users. Alarm System should be fixed at the ATM kiosk from preventing the opening of ATM chest door.
