SI Ranganath Goud sacked

  • He had cheated woman in the name of marriage
  • IG issues orders on Friday

SI Ranganath Goud Sacked, Cheated Woman, Razia SultanaGuntur/nuzvid: A sub-inspector of police, Y Ranganath Goud, working in the South Coastal Zone of Nellore, was dismissed from service on Friday following orders issued by IG P Sunil Kumar.

While serving in Ponnur in Guntur district, he had faced allegations of cheating after promising to marry a woman, Razia Sultana in 2009. She had lodged a complaint to higher-ups. When officials did not respond, she resorted to agitation along with leaders of several women’s organisations.

This forced the department to order an inquiry into the unsavoury episode. The probe by Ongole DSP Jashua revealed that Goud had indeed violated the work norms. The inquiry was stopped following orders issued by the Andhra Pradesh Administrative Tribunal (APAT). It was completed after the stay was lifted both by the Tribunal and the AP High Court.

Reacting to the SI dismissal orders in Nuzvid, Razia Sultana expressed happiness, although it was belated. She wanted Goud to be sentenced to 14 years in prison.

She alleged that the SI had held out threats, including killing, besides offer of Rs.10 lakh to buy her silence.
