Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched a revised pension scheme – NTR Bharosa – and protected drinking water scheme – NTR Sujala Sravanthi here on Thursday on the occasion of Gandhiji birth anniversary.

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu launched a revised pension scheme – NTR Bharosa – and protected drinking water scheme – NTR Sujala Sravanthi here on Thursday on the occasion of Gandhiji birth anniversary. He said that his government had brought all types of pensions under one umbrella of ‘NTR Bharosa’ for their effective implementation. The government would deliver the pension and other benefits to the beneficiaries through their bank accounts, he said.
"The State is facing financial difficulties. There is no money to meet requirements. However, we are committed to continuing the welfare schemes and payment of higher pension is being launched now," the Chief Minister said.
Referring to the loan waiver implementation for the farmers and the self-help group women, the Chief Minister said that the government would deposit 20 per cent of the loans to the banks towards repayment by October 22. He said this act of the government would reach the farmers as Diwali gift.
Earlier in the day, he launched the NTR Sujala Sravanthi scheme providing 20 liters of protected drinking water to the beneficiaries at just Rs 2. He also inaugurated the Janma Bhoomi and Neeru-Chettu programmes in the city.
The Chief Minister participated in the Swaccha Bharath Prgramme organised in the city along with Central Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
He called upon the people to spend two hours every week as part of the Clean India campaign. The government would set up a special corporation to monitor this programme and rope in philanthropists and corporate to make it a success. In the first phase, the corporation would give priority to construction of toilets for individuals in villages and group toilets for school.
