Madhu, who was an accused in at least five murders cases – four in Tadepalligudem and one in Eluru – was allegedly a notorious rowdy in West Godavari district.
According to police, Madhu’s confidante Bande Kali Krishna shot him from the close range with a revolver inside a liquor shop in the village. Madhu, his brother Durga Prasad, brother-in-law Jaganmohana Rao and Kali Krishna, while travelling from Dwaraka Tirumala to Eluru, stopped at a liquor shop near Gunnapalli. When Durga Prasad went out to fetch snacks, Kali Krishna whipped out revolver and shot Madhu in the head. Madhu died instantaneously, the police said.

Previous enmity was said to be motive behind the murder. Madhu was prime accused in the murder of rowdy-sheer Peter Paiboyina Ravi in 2010 and later in the murder of a lawyer also. Madhu and his accomplices were charged with shooting Ravi to death on the court premises when he went to attend the court proceedings in connection with a criminal case, the police said.
