Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Electricity Contract Employees Joint Action Committee (JAC) at its convention held at the Gymkhana grounds here on Monday, decided to go on flash strike from midnight on Monday, demanding regularisation of their services and abolition of the third party contract system. Participating in the JAC convention, APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy criticised the government for not keeping his promise of regularising the services of 30,000 electricity contract employees in the State. He extended his party's support to their demands.

JAC chairman N Seetharam said the services of electricity contract employees were not regularised even after working for two decades. Their wages were also not revised commensurate with price rise. JAC co-convener R Praveen, Telangana Contract Employees JAC chairman Sydulu, former MLAs Devineni Rajasekhar (Nehru) and Malladi Vishnu, District Congress Committee president Naraharisetti Narasimha Rao, Youth Congress leader Devineni Avinash and others were present.
