The GO issue downsizing the thrift amount to weavers by the State Government has been demanded to be withdrawn by YSR Congress and also that TDP has been neglecting weavers on various counts.

Bathula Brahmananda Reddy, the Party official spokesperson on Monday said that the GO issued by the state decreased the thrift amount to weavers from Rs 6,000 to Rs 4,000 and the weavers already in distress were adversely affected by the move.

In Ananthapur district, there have been suicides by weavers; As they are bearing the brunt of Chandrababu Naidu’s failure to keep his word of waiving loans, such draconian GO s are badly affecting the weaving community and driving them to suicides.

Chandrababu Naidu during elections promised many sops in the manifesto - waiver of all loans, housing and Rs 1000 crores fund for weavers’ welfare. But none of these have actually take place and to top that, the thrift amount is reduced showcasing the utter negligence towards weavers in the TDP rule.

Not a single house was built nor a single loan was approved to the weavers which is the reason Bathula Brahmananda Reddy demanded that the State withdraw the GO immediately else they will stand by them and not fail to agitate.

As Ys Jagan Mohan Reddy visit to Delhi sparked rumours that the visit was personal, Brahmananda Reddy brushed aside the remarks of TDP leaders and said that as a responsible leader of opposition, the Chief Minister has to meet people and hand representations in the interest of the state which is the reason he has not broached that subject.
