Vizianagaram: Former APCC president Botcha Satyanarayana on Sunday criticised Union Minister for Civil Aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju for his failure to exert pressure on the Union government to grant special category status to the State. He said “Ashok will be branded as unpopular politician in the State if he fails to secure a special package for Andhra Pradesh.”

Speaking to the media, Satyanarayana stated that it was the State’s good fortune that Ashok Gajapathi Raju had become the Union Minister. He objected to Union Ministers resorting to demeaning comments with regard to the special status to the State.

He warned that the Congress party would not remain a silent spectator if the Union Ministers continued to indulge in such loose talk. He wanted the Centre to convene the Niti Ayog to discuss the special status to Andhra Pradesh and make an announcement over according the special status.

He accused both Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy of ignoring the problems being faced by people in the State for their ‘own political interests’.
