Addressing the gathering in Delhi, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy called for a bandh on August 28.
He called upon supporters and his party members to take part in the bandh and make it successful.
"Assembly sessions will begin from August 31 and we observe bandh in the state to protest Centre's inordinate delay on the special status. Everyone should question the BJP and TDP Governments for backtracking on its promise of giving special category status to the state," the YSRCP chief said.
CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury extended his support to the YSRCP dharna and visited Jantar Manthar in Delhi where the party staged the dharna.
