Many elders enthusiastically participated to exhibit their poetry skills in the event. Andhra Arts Academy general secretary Golla Narayana Rao presided over the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, a retired lecturer from Maris Stella College, Regina highlighted the role of elders in molding the career of the younger generations. She exhorted the present generation youth to respect elders, who sacrifice everything for the development of their children. Every individual should take up the responsibility to protect their elderly and must take this job seriously, she said.
Krishna District Senior Citizens Welfare Association secretary M Venkateswara Rao said that a function would be organized by the association at Siddhartha Auditorium on October 1 to felicitate the elders. Representatives from government would also participate and give away the certificates and mementos to the elders participated in various competitions conducted to mark the event.
