‘Good eating habits and physical exercise is all that one needs to stay fit and healthy. With simple precautions, one can reduce or lower the risk of chronic disorders in the body,” opined Police Commissioner D Gautham Sawang. He flagged off the Andhra Hospital’s Marathon rally at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, on World Heart Day on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering, Sawang insisted on the need for picking up one or the other kind of physical activity that burns calories and enhances body’s functioning. Balanced diet with rich nutrients and any exercise to warm up the body will help to bring down the chances of falling prey to diabetes, hypertension, blood pressure, obesity and its related issues. “There is a need for spreading awareness on the importance of physical activity,” he said.
The marathon, which is a stretch of 3 km, kick-started and proceeded to Andhra Hospitals and Brain and Heart Institute in Suryaraopet. Cardiologist Dr J Srimannarayana, Dr Dileep and Dr Ramesh spoke on the occasion. Free consultation and special discounts on investigative tests were offered at Andhra Hospitals on Wednesday.
