He reportedly warned the negligent officials that they would be shifted to other places basing on their performance.

Naidu addressed them at Umesh Chandra Conference hall on Saturday on the measures being taken up for easing the pain of the people and directed them to complete enumeration of rain and flood damage in the district within three days. He also said that services of 30 senior IAS officers would also be utilised for relief and rehab activities, if necessary and explained that 500 villages in 22 mandals in the district received huge damage due to heavy rains.

He said the city suffered huge breaches on roads and directed the officials to finish the repair works at the earliest and asked the contractors to maintain quality. He visited Leelamahal centre, Kanakamahal centre and Madras Bus Stand where huge breaches to roads led to overflowing of water and observed encroachments of irrigation canals where constructions have come up.

“Clear all encroachments in city within three months and the works should start from Sunday itself. We won’t spare anyone who violated norms and encroached those canals. The city is facing flood-like situation in the city because of these infringements and officials concerned have to focus on clearing them on a war-footing,” Naidu added.

The CM also assured that the district headquarters would be getting Rs 1,100 crore worth drainage and drinking water facilities and would be converted into a model smart city with state-of-the-art infrastructure. An industrial township with the partnership of Government of India and Japan would come up in the district, he added.

Chief Minister organised tele-conference with tahsildars, MPDOs, Panchayat Secretaries, and other revenue officials and Janmabhoomi Committee members on the relief and rehab measures and the flood situation in the areas and said officials and others have to build confidence among victims of nature’s fury that the government would be with them till normalcy restored in the entire district.

Further, Director General of Police J Ramudu deputed five senior IPS officers to the district for monitoring traffic and other problems in Nellore as the Chief Minister was struck in traffic logjam for 10 minutes at ZP Office centre when he was proceeding towards Leelamahal centre.
