Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant has registered highest sales volume of five lakh tonnes worth Rs 1,617 crore in December last year compared to any December month since inception of the plant.

According to company Chairman and Managing Director P Madhusudan, the RINL has registered a growth turnover of eight per cent with Rs 8,636 crore during April-December, 2015 which includes export sales of Rs 935 crore recording an impressive growth of 38 per cent.

He also informed that the RINL has bagged Star Performer Award for 2013-14 for the second consecutive term in recognition of its contribution to steel exports. The award was instituted by Engineering Exports Promotion Council, Ministry of Commerce.

The plant, he said also achieved a growth of 21 per cent in saleable steel production during April-December last besides best record in blast furnace production, specific water consumption and labour productivity areas. Stating that the plant has ended the period from April to December with best performance in production and sales volume despite difficult market conditions, the CMD expressed confidence that RINL collective will meet the targets in the new year also as 2016 is a very promising year.
