Altruists coming forward to develop villages: Collector

Kurnool: In view of the importance being given to the Smart Village/Ward concept in the ongoing third phase of the Janmabhoomi programme, some philanthropists are coming forward with offers of donations for taking up development works in villages. This was stated on Saturday by Collector Ch Vijaymohan while responding to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during his teleconference on the programme.

He urged Naidu to release orders on the creation of a district foundation system to deposit details of donations being offered. The Chief Minister said the orders to create the district foundation system have been approved. They would be released shortly. Earlier, Naidu told the Collectors that the majority of representations from the poor during Janmabhoomi were for allotment of house sites.

He wanted the administration to utilise latest technical know-how, like Google maps, to locate the available government land in villages. Naidu declared the government’s firm resolve to construct two bedroom houses for the poor. He called upon officials to prepare the estimates of the housing scheme and its complete details.

Meanwhile, addressing a video conference on the ‘Chandranna Sankranti Kanuka’ scheme, here, Joint Collector C Harikiran said so far, 35 per cent of the scheme has been implemented in the district. He asked the Civil Supplies department’s deputy tahsildars to complete the task to the extent of 95 per cent by January 12. The Joint Collector pointed out that 700 fair price shops in the district were not found open even at 10.30 a.m.

He said 32 FP shops in Pyapili were found closed since Friday, while calling for information and suspension of the dealers. Harikiran asked the deputy tahsildars to initiate steps for the distribution of Chandranna Sankranti Kanuka scheme kits which was found to be tardy in Pyapili, Hall agenda and Alur manuals. He said in view of the complaints of improper distribution in FP shops e-POS set up has been updated to ensure delivery in 13 seconds, while suggesting to the dealers to get their system updated after 1 p.m.
