Anantapur: Chief Commissioner of Land Administration and Chief Secretary Anil Puneeta declared at Thondapadu village in Gooty mandal on Sunday that Anantapur district stood first in the State in achieving the targets fixed by the government and in the implementation of various welfare schemes.

Addressing the Gram Sabha during the Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru programme, Puneeta praised Collector Kona Sashidhar, Joint Collector Lakshmikantham and revenue officials for devoting special attention to the implementation of various schemes, besides revenue issues, to place the district first in the State. He remarked that other districts in the State should take Anantapur as a model. All the officials should work in unity to achieve progress. The CCLA called for increased production in agriculture/horticulture by proper utilisation of various government schemes.

Sashidhar observed that development would be possible when everyone joined hands and work in unity. He termed the Gram Sabha as the ideal platform for solving the people’s problems.

The Collector stated that the bad name brought to the district by the fake passbook scam could be erased, thanks to the well organised ‘Mee Intiki Mee Bhoomi’ programme. He said real village development was possible only when deliveries take place without deaths in hospitals, scrapping of child marriages, sending of all children to schools and adoption of hygiene. These were among the 20 topics on which there should be no compromise. He announced that all eligible persons would be allotted ration cards.

He directed dealers of FP shops to distribute to the people free of cost the Chandranna Sankranti Kanuka items, with a warning that action would be taken against them if there were any irregularities.

Guntakal MLA Jeetendra Goud also spoke. Among those present were Sarpanch Radhika, RDO Hussain Saheb.
