Man kills wife, stages it as suicide

Nizampatnam (Guntur): An ex-Armyman named Lenin (25) was arrested by the Nizamapatnam police on charges of murdering his wife Shilam Surya Gautami (20) and staging the same as suicide. The couple haling from the town fell in love a couple of years ago and got married against their parents’ wishes. At the time of marriage, Lenin had gifted a 50 cents of land to his wife to prove his love for her.

However, Lenin had been idle for over an year and took to several vices and had been ill-treating his wife. For quite sometime, he had been pressurising his wife to dispose off the gifted land to support his extravagant living and vices. She reportedly declined and the issue became a bone of contention between them.

The police said that Lenin had killed her and made it look like a suicide. On a complaint from Gautami’s father Sreenivasa Rao, the police arrested the accused and registered a case of murder against him. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
