Visakhapatnam: The TDP Kapu leaders of Nakkapalli, S Rayavaram, Kotaurtla and Payakaraopet mandals, including former Zilla Grandhalaya Samstha chairman Thota Nagesh, who convened a meeting at Nakkapalli on Friday, opposed the ensuing Kapu Ikya Garjana to be conducted by former minister Mudragada Padmanabham in Tuni on January 31 demanding the State government to include Kapus in the BC list without delaying the process.
Nagesh alleged that the proposed Kapu Ikya Garjana is nothing but the plot hatched by both YSR Congress Party and Mudragada Padmanabham to divide the Kapus who were supporting the ruling TDP.
He pointed out that the TDP in its election manifesto has clearly stated that Kapus will be included in BC list for which a Commission with a sitting Judge was already set up and it is supposed to give report in nine months.
He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has set up Kapu Corporation earmarking Rs 1,000 crore budget of which already Rs 100 crore has been released to help the educated unemployed Kapu youth.
Hailing the efforts of the late Kapu leader Miriyala Venkata Rao, who had agitated, demanding the government to include Kapu, Balija, Telaga and Ontari castes in the BC list, but Mudragada is now trying to agitate under the influence of YSRCP, he alleged.
