Lovers commit suicide
In a tragic incident, young lovers, who are engineering students, have committed suicide here on Saturday. Police said they lay across the railway track in a desolated place near Sri Padmavathi Women’s University and were run over by Venkatadri Express bound for Chittoor, early in the morning.
Tirupati: In a tragic incident, young lovers, who are engineering students, have committed suicide here on Saturday. Police said they lay across the railway track in a desolated place near Sri Padmavathi Women’s University and were run over by Venkatadri Express bound for Chittoor, early in the morning.
The suicide came to light when a passerby found the mutilated bodies and informed the police. Railway Sub-Inspector Nagarjuna Reddy sent the bodies to SVRR hospital for postmortem. Based on the mobile phone found in the packet of the boy, he was identified as jyothisasi (24) of Devarapalli in Pathipadu mandal in Guntur district while the girl as Mary Stella (22) of Ongole town in Prakasam district.
The duo who were studying in a private Engineering college in Guntur, were in love for the past three years and desired to marry. But, the parents stoutly opposed their love which led them to take the extreme step of committing suicide, Railway police said based on the preliminary enquiries.
Mary Stella’s father Yesu Prabhu is working as Armed Reserve constable in Ongole. Police informed both the parents including Jyothisasi’s father Nageswar Rao. A case has been registered.
