MLA calls for polio-free society

Anantapur: Legislator Prabhakara Chowdary on Sunday launched the second phase of the pulse polio immunisation programme at Nehru Municipal Upper Primary School in the town.

He exhorted the people to build a society free from polio. Mayor Swaroopa, Joint Collector Sayyed Qaza Mohiuddin, 19th division corporator Rahamat Bee and others took part in the programme.

The first phase of the polio immunisation programme was held on January 17. During the second phase, polio drops administered to 4,45,321 children in age group of 0-5 years. A door-to-door survey will be undertaken on February 22 and 23 to administer polio drops to those children who were not covered in Sunday’s immunization drive.
