Pilla Prasad, theatre and film artiste
“Good standard plays are not being staged now days. Plays like Kanya Sulkam, Vara Vikrayam, Keerthiseshulu, Ragaragini, Maro Mohanjadaro, Arani, Sidhartha, Edi Bharatam, and Tarjani are remembered even after two decades because of their script and direction.
Production houses are vanishing with time and it is because of the bad scripts and lack of perfect rehearsals. Earlier, the process of rehearsals involved a lot of things from minimum 20 days of sitting rehearsals to standing rehearsals for fixing moments. But today, how many are following this?”
B Jayaprakash, organiser
“Workshops are must to improve the present level of drama. The Government should encourage the youth who are working for theater by appointing in government departments.”
Beta Rama Surya Prakash, theatre artiste
“Many experiments are going on in the name of modern theatre but it is not attracting the common man. The drama will survive only with the patronisation of audience.”
P Suryanarayana Murthy, theatre goer
“The basic amenity to stage a play is auditorium and unfortunately in the city there is no full equipped auditorium. Tummalapalli Kala Kshetram has been closed for more than six months for renovation works but it is not in progress. And if the Government is not paying attention on promotion of drama, how the scenario of theater will improve?”
P Vijay Bhaskara Sarma, secretary of Sumadhura Kala Niketan
“To produce a good play with standards, corporate firms should sponsor just like they do for sports. The workshops should be conducted for actors, directors and for technicalities separately. The present theatre is in need of good technicians.”
