Just In
Nandyal (Kurnool): Here is a Good Samaritan, who is helping the poor, to tie the nuptial knot in the faction-ridden and drought-affected Kurnool district of Rayalaseema region. He is Tuggali Nagendra, a TDP leader and a close confidant of Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy, of Pattikonda.
He plays a crucial role in ensuring the victory of party nominees in Pattikonda and campaigned against factionalism, which ran in his family till some time ago, and mingled with one and all and earned reputation in the constituency. He is sensitising the people to shun factionalism and march towards development.
He has been performing the marriages of the poor on Sriramanavami day at his native village of Tuggali since 18 years, and he continued the tradition as the poor cannot afford the celebrations. Speaking to the media, he said that so far 40 couples registered their names to participate in mass marriages and exhorted the poor to come forward and get their names registered in the next four or five days.
As was his habit, he would provide paraphernalia needed for marriage celebrations and feed dear and near of the couples. He has sent invitations to all the political leaders irrespective of party affiliations though he was sailing with the TDP. There is no exaggeration to say that marriages in the poor families in Rayalaseema region will not be a problem if there are many more leaders like him.
