Bridge on salt creek, ROB to ease traffic
The smart city tag to Kakinada has prompted the authorities to concentrate on traffic bottlenecks in Kakinada city. Under this effort, two projects were cleared for execution. These projects are an ROB at old Kakinada Port railway station area and third road bridge on salt creek, which passes between Jagannaickpur and Kakinada.

- To be taken up with `1.33 crore in Kakinada
The former is to be taken up at a cost of Rs 74 crore with fifty- fifty sharing between state government and Railways. The bridge on salt creek would be taken up with cost of Rs 59 crore and the R and B will execute the project. On completion of the two projects, smooth flow of traffic is expected between Kakinada port area and NH 216 passing through Yetimoga fishermen area and Chollangipeta.
With the road connectivity from Annavaram to Kakinada Port area for a distance of about 40 kilometers exclusively for part operations cleared under Sagarmala project, the port operations and the traffic is expected to be smooth after execution of these road projects. When contacted, Kakinada Rural MLA Pilli Anantalakshmi said that on execution, the traffic relating to entire port operations will be a smooth affair without touching city limits. This will improve the traffic movement considerably in city, the MLA said.
