The Minister enquired about the medical facilities available at Paderu hospital from the District Coordinator of Government Hospitals Dr Nayak and said that the government will not hesitate to spend more money to protect the health of tribals. “Though the government is ready to offer a sum of Rs 1.5 lakh remuneration, anesthetists and gynecologists are not willing to work in the Agency”, he lamented.
Dr Nayak told the Minister that over 300 out-patients will undergo treatment daily while 150 institutional deliveries are being registered every month at Paderu hospital. He informed that though the doctors were working with commitment, pregnant women are not willing to join hospitals one week before the delivery date, hence, deaths are happening.
Later, the Minister informed that the government has allocated ambulance service one each extra to Paderu and Araku hospitals to meet the growing needs. “The government is ready to employ even the retired specialist doctors, who are willing to work in Paderu Agency, offering a good remuneration after making amendments to the present rules”, he said.
Stating that a new hospital building with Rs 4.34 crore was been sanctioned to Muchungiputtu and the work will be commenced soon after completing the tendering work. Responding to the plea of the family members that both mother Bhagya Lakshmi, a contract teacher and her newborn baby died, due to lack of timely medicare at Bokella hamlet in Paderu Mandal on Monday, the Minister immediately announced an exgratia of Rs 2 lakh from the CM Relief Fund after discussing with the Collector and Principal Secretary of Health.
He also asked Paderu Sub-Collector Siva Sankar Lotheti to probe and initiate action against the staff of Kasturba Vidyalaya for not paying wages properly to Bhagya Lakshmi. Dr Kamineni further informed that directive will be issued soon making all the six gynecologists discharging duties in the district as Deputy DM&HOs to work in Paderu hospital on a rotation basis.
Additional DM&HO Dr Y Venkateswara Rao, Member of Coffee Board L Gandhi and local leaders Mutyalamma, Nagaraju, P Raja Rao, hospital committee chairman B Naidu accompanied the Minister.
