Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister K E Krishna Murthy here on Wednesday cautioned the district Collectors against allowing corruption in revenue offices. Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the two-day District Collectors’ conference, Krishna Murthy said that he received complaints from several places about growing corruption in revenue offices.

Village Revenue Officers (VROs) and tahsildars are allegedly said to be encouraging corruption, which is very much present in Mee Seva offices controlled by the VROs and tahsildars. The Minister further alleged that some of the Mee Seva officials were said to be collecting higher amounts for providing online certificates.

Even the MROs were not issuing the Pattadar Pass Books or looking at the applications till last minute, he added. He also upbraided the Collectors for having no control over these offices and asked them to conduct regular inspection of the MRO offices and the Mee Seva offices.

Even they have been directed to cancel the license of the Mee Seva centers if they are found indulging in corruption. Reports of corruption by the outsourcing employees recruited as computer operators in the revenue offices have also come to him. The Dy CM asked the Collectors to remove such people and appoint tech savvy persons.

Collectors have also been asked to ensure that the VROs and MROs should not be posted in their native mandals. Even they should be available for people in the offices. Joint Collectors have been asked to conduct periodical inspections and reviews on the performance of the revenue staff at various levels and guide them to work hard using technology and bring better results.
