Pithapuram Urban Society vice-president Balipalli Rambabu was taken into custody on Saturday and  was later released on personal bond towards in the evening.

Pithapuram (East Godavari): Pithapuram Urban Society vice-president Balipalli Rambabu was taken into custody on Saturday and was
later released on personal bond towards in the evening. Rambabu expressed anguish over the police taking him into custody without
resorting to any agitation.

It may be recalled that the police on Friday took over 30 pesons into custody. Meanwhile, Kapu leaders reached the police station in
large numbers expressing solidarity with Rambabu.

Former MLA of Pithapuram Pendem Dorababu was kept under house arrest at his residence in Kovvuru in Kakinada rural district. Besides
Dorababu, former chairman of Padagaya inPithapuram Talisetty Venkat eswara Rao was kept under house arrest. The agitation by Kapu
leaders was on the wane following the house arrest. Meanwhile, some shops and establishments downed their shutters voluntarily while
some others did business as usual.

The town was under the surveillance of armed police who were posted at important places of the town.
