Responding to the demonetization move impacting the lives of the poor and middle class people drastically, Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy on Sunday demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to hand over his resignation due to the alarming situation being witnessed all across the country.
Addressing the media, Raghuveera Reddy pointed out Supreme Court’s observations on the post-demonetisation situation indicating riots may occur due to the strictures passed by the NDA government.
Stating that the people are waiting in queues in front of ATMs and banks for hours together, he said the move passed by the Central government has been poorly handled leading to crisis.
The APCC president said that 47 people have lost their lives in different parts of the country while waiting to withdraw the high-value notes. He also compared the UPA regime's demonetization move in 2005 where Rs.500 and Rs.1,000 notes were printed prior and commenced smoothly.
Raghuveera Reddy further demanded the government to scrap Rs. 2,000 notes as hoarding black money would become easier.
