Need more awareness on water management

Participating as chief guest in the inaugural programme of a two day seminar on ‘Water Resources Management in Coastal Regions ‘ organized here on Thursday by National Institute of Hydrology, Kakinada , Prof Kumar said that JNTU Kakinada would like to chalk out an action plan for the same with the active participation of the student community.

Participating as chief guest in the inaugural programme of a two day seminar on ‘Water Resources Management in Coastal Regions ‘ organized here on Thursday by National Institute of Hydrology, Kakinada , Prof Kumar said that JNTU Kakinada would like to chalk out an action plan for the same with the active participation of the student community.
Speaking on the occasion, director of National Institute of Oceanography Dr VSN Murthy observed that rapid urbaniztion, lack of concrete measures for effective use of water resources was the main reason for the prevailing scenario.
Unless stringent measures are initiated, management of water needs will be a difficult task in the near future, he said. Dr RD Singh, Director, National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee advocated for a concerted effort by scientists on this aspect instead of making individual contributions.
Dr SV Vijay Kumar and Dr YR Satyaji Rao are coordinating the conduct of the two-day meet along with Dr JV Tyagi. Scientists, research scholars and students participated in the event.
