Silk dhoti, Uttareeyam worth ` 16 lakh offered to Srivaru
Tirupati: Dharmavaram silk dhoti and upper cloth worth Rs 16 lakh which were presented to Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala on Saturday have entered the International Wonder Book of Records.
Tirupati: Dharmavaram silk dhoti and upper cloth worth Rs 16 lakh which were presented to Lord Venkateswara of Tirumala on Saturday have entered the International Wonder Book of Records.
One kilogram worth gold and silver were used in the making of these silk clothes. These record vastrams were weaved by Raghavendra group of weavers in Dharmavaram of Anantapur district. Almost 60,000 devotees of Lord Venkateswara were involved in the weaving process.
The mobile weaving loom was carried to the 13 districts of the State. One can see the name ‘Om Namo Venkatesaya’ written one lakh times on these vastrams. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, several Ministers and other dignitaries were also involved in the making of the clothes.
These clothes were donated to Srivaru by Ramanjulu Reddy and his wife Venkata Sujatha of Pulivendula in Kadapa district. They handed over the silk clothes to TTD Chairman Chadalawada Krishnamurthy in Tirupati on Saturday.
Representatives of International Book of Records handed over the certificate of recognition to the Raghavendra Group who involved 60,000 people in weaving these clothes.
