Spend sub-plan funds for SC/STs only
Nakka Anand Babu, Minister for Social Welfare and Empowerment, Tribal Welfare and Empowerment, here on Friday said that the government is taking all steps to spend funds on SC/ST welfare only if they were intended for them. Spending every rupee for the deserved sections is the only motto of the government, he said.

He was present at the nodal agency meeting of SC/ST-Sub Plan here. Anand Babu said social welfare officials were directed to provide quality education, food and medical treatment for children of social welfare schools. Some departments, which were not spending Sub-Plan funds, had been asked to spend the funds at the earliest. “We are preparing plans to spend all funds intended for Dalits and Tribals,” he added.
The government is taking special care for the construction of drainage, drinking water and laying of roads in Dalit and Tribal localities, he informed.The Social Welfare Minister said that an additional Rs 500 crore for STs and Rs 1,000 crore for SCs were allocated in the Sub-Plan budget for 2017-18, he revealed.
