Vijayawada: As a part of state-wide campaign launched by the commercial tax department to create awareness on the Goods and Services Tax (GST), officials of the commercial tax department led by joint commissioner V Raghunath conducted an awareness campaign among the traders in a shopping mall at Benz Circle in the city.

The Union government launched the GST from July 1 across the country to implement one nation and one tax system. Speaking on the occasion, joint commissioner V Raghunath said the commercial tax department staff and officials in the Circle-2 region are conducting awareness campaign for the past few days. He said the officials are explaining about the invoice, taxes percentage and other important rules and regulations about the GST.

He said Suryarao Pet, Auto Nagar, Krishna Lanka, Benz Circle, Patamata areas come under the Circle-2 region. He informed that awareness campaign will also be launched in Machilipatnam and Vuyyur as part of the state-wide campaign launched by the commercial Tax department.

He said hotels, shopping malls, super markets and commercial establishments will be covered. Raghunath said the officials are collecting the details of all tax payers who fall under the GST. He said the traders can visit the commercial tax offices to get information about the GST, billing and invoice.
